Relais della Rovere
9/10 on 6 reviews
“Relais della Rovere”, magnificent renaissance villa in a panoramic position, was built in the 15th century by Cardinal Giuliano della Rovere, who later became pope with the name Pope Giulio II, and who became famous as patron of the arts, among whom Michelangelo and Raffaello stand out. The residence came about after the renovation of a Benedictine abbey from the 9th century, radically transforming its former and austere state.
A green park with splendid swimming pool, from which a spectacular panorama of Colle di Val d’Elsa and the countryside in the heart of Tuscany, is the setting of the enchanting Relais.
The elegant suites, furnished in a refined way with high-quality furniture and colours, have every comfort, as also the congress centre which has all the latest technical equipment.
The cloister inside the centre of the Relais is an ideal place to sip a refreshing aperitif whilst relaxing, while the welcoming restaurant in the converted salons is an irresistible invitation for those lovers of Tuscany cuisine.
Due to its central position, the Relais della Rovere is the ideal point of departure for discovering the magnificent artistic Tuscan patrimony, whose vestiges are found everywhere, encircled by fascinating countryside or hidden among the walls of ancient villages and towns.

His Opinion: All was perfect
The TEAM was present and professional
One little Thing should be ameliorate : the breakfast opening time 7:30 to 10:00 is too early.. 10:30 or 11:00 will be better and the must will to take the breakfast outside in the beautifull terrass not available even at the restaurant for the dinner.
But it’s minor things
Kind regards

His Opinion: Loved absolutely everything about this property, the staff, fabulous breakfast and restaurant! Beautiful buildings.. If they would only hire a decorator to replace the IKEA- like austere furnishings with pieces of the period and lush bedding, they could get. 5 star plus rating.!!!!

His Opinion: Great hotel - great service and staff. As a suggestion - consider a more detailed information brochure as to room service and menus.

His Opinion: We were happy to find such a charmful location at short notice in the midst of August. The setting of the location within an antique and well-restored convent, within walking distance from the old town of Val d'Elsa with breathtaking views and sundowns, is just perfect for a romantic holiday and many nice excursions by car or bike to the famous nearby destinations of Tuscany. The pool was clean and much appreciated to get relief from the August heat. Very friendly staff and excellent service, breakfasts and dinners; however, there are also many alternatives outside. The only annoying thing were the relatively noisy ventilators in the bathroom and toilet. For the rest, highly recommendable!
